Objective

Conversation is easier when you have something in common. The department was looking for a new strategy for community outreach that would create a personal connection between officers & children. The goal was to foster relationships that would break down barriers & build trust through common experiences. Through collaboration to develop the story and graphic design to capture the imagery, vibrant images and relatable stories brought each page to life. Recipients are able to identify with officers outside of their role as a officer. By humanizing officers, it makes them more approachable as public servants.

Solution

The collaboration between the department & our graphics & marketing team in developing the story & imagery for “Who’s Behind the Badge?” is an example of partnerships that create results. Strong visuals and a relatable storyline are having a huge impact on the efforts of the police department in creating trust between residents & the officers that serve the community. Media outlets recognized the innovative approach of this book for changing relationships, bringing positive publicity to community policing efforts, featuring the officer’s work on local & national networks and inspiring other agencies to share their stories. We are excited to report that this unique outreach is creating change and building relationships in the community, as kids begin to relate to officers on a personal level.

The Apex Police Department worked closely with Promotional Partners in developing a story book that introduced our officers to our community members. This project did not come easy, but the professionalism that we received from Promotional Partners was amazing. This project took approximately 4 months from start to finish which included creating and editing officer biographies and tracking photo submissions from the officers. Isabel’s ability to bring the animated pictures to life in the exact way that we were hoping, definitely made the book successful. We gave Promotional Partners an idea of what we were hoping to see, and they made it happen for us. We are beyond satisfied with the outcome of this book and can’t wait to continue this partnership on future projects.
